12/8/09 MEN'S BASKETBALL - Felician Wins CACC Opener, Improves To 6-0

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Sophomore guard Antoine Obery (Roselle, NJ) recorded 23 points and eight rebounds as the Felician College men's basketball team defeated host Concordia (N.Y.) College, 73-66, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division action Tuesday night at Meyer Athletic Center. Both teams were playing their first CACC tilt of the season.

Obery, who finished 7 for 7 from the field, scored 19 first-half points to lead Felician (6-0, 1-0) to a 48-28 halftime lead. The Golden Falcons then committed 12 second-half turnovers in allowing Concordia to mount a comeback. The Clippers trimmed their deficit to 58-49 just past the halfway point of the second period, came within seven points of Felician on a Lavor Morris (Bronx, NY) three-point field goal with four minutes, 36 seconds to play, and got as close as 71-66 at 0:17 before a pair of C.T. Williams (Accokeek, MD) foul shots provided the final margin.

SPARKILL, N.Y. -- Junior Devon Young (Monmouth Junction, NJ) scored his 1,000th career point and senior Ethan Kennedy (Albuquerque, NM) had a career-high 26 points as the Felician College men's basketball team defeated host St. Thomas Aquinas College, 81-68, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Aquinas Hall.

11/28/09 MEN'S BASKETBALL - Hot Shooting Carries Felician In Home Opener

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College men’s basketball team shot 60 percent from the field in winning its 2009-10 home opener, 91-78, against Molloy College in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium. Junior swingman Devon Young (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick) topped Felician (4-0) with 25 points and seven rebounds.

The Golden Falcons, who never trailed, led, 48-29, at halftime. Molloy cut its deficit to eight with 12:00 to play, but Felician, which shot 73 percent in the second half, went back ahead by 15 at the 8:17 mark. The Lions (1-3) had one more push left, scoring six consecutive points to pull within 71-64 before a Kashiff Foster (Somerset, NJ/Rutgers Prep) three-point field goal at 4:18 gave the Golden Falcons some breathing room.

11/21/09 MEN'S BASKETBALL - Men Upend No. 19 Johnson C. Smith. 72-68

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sophomore guard Antoine Obery (Roselle, NJ) scored 22 points with nine rebounds as the Felician College men’s basketball team defeated host Johnson C. Smith University, 72-68, in the final game of the Wendy’s/Claude Saunders Tip-Off on Saturday night before 1,123 fans at Brayboy Gymnasium. Johnson C. Smith is ranked No. 19 in the national preseason Division II coaches poll.

The teams were never separated by more than six points in the first half, which JCSU (2-1) ended with a 36-34 edge. The key stretch for Felician came, when, leading by one with 10:49 remaining, it embarked on an 11-3 run lasting nearly five minutes. The Golden Falcons (3-0) still were ahead by six, with the ball, and 38 seconds remaining, but kept the Golden Bulls alive by missing 5 of 6 free throws on their next three possessions. The game was not in hand until Ethan Kennedy (Albuquerque, NM) canned two foul shots for the final margin with five ticks on the clock.
