 BRENNAN RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College men’s cross country-team is ranked No. 8 in the NCAA Division II East Region, according to the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings released today. It is believed to be the first such regional ranking in program history for either Felician cross-country program.
The Golden Falcons jumped into the rankings on the strength of their victory in the 19-team Belmont Classic last Saturday in Philadelphia. In just their second varsity event of the season, they out-pointed four other East Region schools, including Philadelphia University, ranked No. 9 regionally at the time of the race. |

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College freshman James Vander Wiele of Pequannock has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men’s Cross-Country Rookie of the Week, the CACC announced today.
Vander Wiele led Felician to the team championship in Saturday’s Belmont Classic, hosted by Cabrini College at Fairmount Park in Philadelphia. He turned in a time of 26 minutes, 58 seconds, for 8,000 meters, and finished third overall (first among freshmen) out of 167 competitors. |

 WRIGHT PHILADELPHIA -- The Felician College men's cross-country team put four runners in the top ten to win the team championship at the Belmont Classic, hosted by Cabrini College on Saturday afternoon at Fairmount Park's Belmont Plateau.
Freshman James Vander Wiele (Pequannock, NJ/Pequannock Township) led the Felician pack, turning in an 8,000-meter time of 26 minutes, 58 seconds. Vander Wiele ran 52 seconds faster than in his collegiate debut last week, and was third overall out of 167 entrants.
Senior Alex Wright (Stockholm, NJ/Wallkill Valley) finished fifth, traversing the mostly grass course in 27:48. He was followed closely by junior Brad Schepise (Milltown, NJ/Spotswood) (7th, 27:51) and redshirt freshman John Wambui (Mbita, Kenya/St. Joseph's) (9th, 28:02). Sophomore Huan Tran (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) rounded out the Golden Falcon scoring, ending up 27th with a collegiate best 8K time of 29:09. |
