RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College freshman Rob Albano of Pompton Plains has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men’s Cross-Country Rookie of the Week, the CACC announced today. Albano has won that honor for the second consecutive week.
During a light rain on Saturday, Albano finished ninth out of 173 entrants at the Fordham Fiasco, hosted by Fordham University at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y. Several Division-I schools dotted the 16-team meet, and only one non-D-I runner crossed the finished ahead of Albano. He ran the 8,000-meter (approx. 5-mile) course in 27 minutes, 34 seconds. |

In his collegiate debut on Saturday, Albano finished second out of 160 entrants in the Delaware Valley College Invitational. He ran the 8,000-meter course in 27 minutes, 31 seconds, and defeated teammate James Vander Wiele (Pequannock, NJ/Pequannock Township), the 2008 CACC Runner of the Year, by four seconds. |

 SCHEPISE DOYLESTOWN, Pa. -- The Felician College men's cross-country team, five-time defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champions, began its 2009 season by winning the 17-team Delaware Valley College Invitational on Saturday morning. The Golden Falcons put three runners in the top six, including freshman Rob Albano's (Pompton Plains, NJ) runner-up performance.
Albano, making his collegiate debut, completed the 8,000-meter, on-campus course in 27 minutes, 32 seconds, defeating all but one of the 160 competitors. Sophomore James Vander Wiele (Pequannock, NJ), the 2008 CACC Runner of the year, was third in 27:36, and senior Brad Schepise (Milltown, NJ) placed sixth in 28:05. |
