12/11/09 MEN'S BASKETBALL - Unbeatens Felician, IUP To Meet On Saturday

RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- A meeting with tournament host Indiana University of Pennsylvania (5-0), the No. 5-ranked NCAA Division II men's basketball team in the country, highlights undefeated Felician College's trip to the Indiana Regional Medical Center Holiday Classic this weekend.

Felician faces the Crimson Hawks in the first day of the event on Saturday at 3 p.m. IUP is offering a free live video webcast of the game, which can be accessed at www.PennAtlantic.com (scroll down to appropriate game). Felician, a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, is off to the best start in the 14-year history of its program at 7-0.

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College men’s basketball team received 17 points, 19 rebounds and six assists from sophomore guard Antoine Obery (Roselle, NJ/Abraham Clark) in its 80-77 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division victory over visiting Post University on Thursday night at Job Gymnasium.

Felician (7-0, 2-0) led by as many as 11 points in the second half, and was still ahead by eight with five minutes, 11 seconds to play. But Post chipped away, and a three-point field goal by freshman Nyheem Sanders (Pawtucket, RI/St. Andrews) at the 0:42 mark brought the Eagles to within 78-77. After an empty possession for each team, Felician’s Ethan Kennedy (Albuquerque, NM/Highland) hit teammate Devon Young (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick) in stride with a baseball pass for a lay-up with under 11 ticks remaining. Post’s contested tying three-point attempt at the buzzer missed off the front rim from the left side.

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Junior forward Quay Baskerville (Hartford, CT/Bulkeley) scored 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Felician College to a 69-43 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division women’s basketball victory over visiting Post University on Tuesday evening at Job Gymnasium.

Felician (3-2, 2-0) shot 25 percent from the field in the first half, but went into the locker room trailing by only two points, 25-23. The Golden Falcons then took control by beginning the second period with a 26-6 run over the first 10 ½ minutes. Felician, which led by as many as 31 points, out-shot the Eagles, 61-20 percent for the half and outscored them, 46-18.
