DeSOCIO The frantic final week of the 2007 regular season will probably benefit this year’s team, concedes Felician College head softball coach Kathy Hill. But she is not anxious to repeat the experience.
Last year’s Golden Falcons went 7-1 over an eight day stretch at season’s end to qualify for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference playoffs via a tiebreaker, then won two elimination games in the tournament before finishing fourth. All but one defensive starter and the entire pitching staff return, leading Hill to hope that this year will start the way 2007 wrapped up. |

TORRES MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The Felician College baseball team concluded its five-game stay at the Northeast Challenge with a 6-1 non-conference victory over Molloy College on Sunday afternoon at the Ripken Experience complex.
Felician (3-2), trailed, 1-0, until taking control with five runs in the top of the seventh inning. Freshman Mickey Zudonyi (Holmdel, NJ) led off the seventh with a double off of Molloy starter Eric Williams (Stamford, CT) (0-1). Zudonyi was sacrificed to third, then scored on a hit by classmate Hector Bello (Miami, FL). The Golden Falcons went on to load the bases, and following a pitching change, Mike Libretta (Staten Island, NY) walked to bring home the go-ahead run. Dave Schoer (Manalapan, NJ) and Marcos Torres (Miami, FL) drove in runs with a ground ball and a single, respectively, and Libretta capped the rally by scoring on a wild pitch. |
