OBERY ORANGEBURG, N.Y. -- The Felician College men's basketball team nearly surrendered a six-point lead in the final 19 seconds, holding on for a 60-58 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division victory over host Dominican (N.Y.) College on Thursday night at the Hennessy Center.
In a game which featured seven ties and 12 lead changes, Felician (17-5, 10-3) took control late with a 9-0 run, culminating with two Ethan Kennedy (Albuquerque, NM) free throws with 0:19 to go in regulation. Antoine Obery (Roselle, NJ) scored five points in the spurt, including the go-ahead basket with 2:32 to play. But Dominican freshman Leon Porter (Laurel, MD) converted back-to-back conventional three-point plays, sandwiching one Golden Falcon free throw, to pull the Chargers (10-14, 6-7) within 58-57. |
