4/17/10 BASEBALL - Baseball Salvages Split With Chestnut Hill

Joel Sanchez allowed one run over seven innings on Apr. 17, 2010, to improve to 5-0.
NORTH WALES, Pa. – Junior right-hander Joel Sanchez (Hialeah, FL) allowed one run over seven innings and Felician College picked up 12 base hits in its 9-1 Game 2 victory over host Chestnut Hill College as the Golden Falcons salvaged a split of the teams’ Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference baseball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Hostelley Field. Chestnut Hill won Game 1, 5-4.

Felician (22-18, 10-4) led Game 2, 4-0 after four innings and 6-1 after six. Sanchez improved to 5-0 on the season, scattering seven hits, striking out four batters and walking two. Freshman Joe Petosa (Spotswood, NJ) and senior Jeff Calabrese (Freehold, NJ) each hit solo home runs for the Golden Falcons.

4/17/10 SOFTBALL - Felician Uses Longball To Sweep GBC

Nicole Degenhardt homered in each game as Felician swept Goldey-Beacom on Apr. 17, 2010.
LYNDHURST, N.J. – A three-run walk-off home run by senior Nicole Degenhardt (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) gave Felician College a 7-4 Game 2 victory over visiting Goldey-Beacom College and a sweep of the teams’ Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference softball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Matera Field. Felician (12-25, 5-15) homered three times in winning Game 1, 4-3.

In the nightcap, Felician trailed, 4-3, heading into the bottom of the seventh inning when Amber Doran (Little Ferry, NJ/Ridgefield Park) led off with a double. Following a walk and a sacrifice, Hope Van Dyke (West Milford, NJ/West Milford) drove in the tying run with an RBI single. Degenhardt followed with a line drive over the left field fence, her fourth round-tripper of the season and second of the day.

4/16/10 BASEBALL - Felician Loses Rain-Shortened Affair, 7-1
LYNDHURST, N.J. – Long Island University-C.W. Post scored five runs in the top of the third inning to take control of its 7-1 non-conference baseball victory over host Felician College on Friday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. The contest was halted after five innings by rain.

RUTHERFORD, N.J.Naoya Sato of Elmwood Park has been promoted from assistant athletic trainer to head athletic trainer at Felician College, director of athletics Ben DiNallo Jr. announced today. DiNallo also announced the hiring of Brian Vogler of Roselle as assistant athletic trainer.
