The baseball team's season opening neutral-site game against LIU-C.W. Post scheduled for this afternoon in Hartsville, S.C., as well as Sunday's doubleheader versus American International College, have been canceled due to snow in South Carolina.

2/12/10 BASEBALL: 2010 Outlook: Baseball Looking To Be "One Of Six"

The Felician College baseball team missed out by one game on its fourth consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference playoff berth last season. The feeling of coming up short has stayed with the Golden Falcons.

“We take last year to practice every day with us,” said seventh-year head coach Chris Langan. “We’re very hungry and driven. Our mindset is simply being one of the last six remaining in our conference.”

The CACC Tournament has expanded from four to six teams this season, and the latter number is prominent in Langan’s mind. While the Felician program has never earned an NCAA playoff berth, the coaching staff is content to set its goals one step at a time.

2/11/10 MEN'S BASKETBALL - Felician Survives For 60-58 Win

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. -- The Felician College men's basketball team nearly surrendered a six-point lead in the final 19 seconds, holding on for a 60-58 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division victory over host Dominican (N.Y.) College on Thursday night at the Hennessy Center.

In a game which featured seven ties and 12 lead changes, Felician (17-5, 10-3) took control late with a 9-0 run, culminating with two Ethan Kennedy (Albuquerque, NM) free throws with 0:19 to go in regulation. Antoine Obery (Roselle, NJ) scored five points in the spurt, including the go-ahead basket with 2:32 to play. But Dominican freshman Leon Porter (Laurel, MD) converted back-to-back conventional three-point plays, sandwiching one Golden Falcon free throw, to pull the Chargers (10-14, 6-7) within 58-57.
