 Devon Young set a Felician record with 39 points in the CACC semfinals on Mar. 5, 2010. CALDWELL, N.J. – Felician College erased a 23-point second-half deficit in its 90-77 overtime victory over Philadelphia University during the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament semifinals on Friday afternoon at the Newman Center on the campus of Caldwell College. Felician advances to take on Goldey-Beacom College in Saturday’s championship game at 4 p.m. at Caldwell.
Felician (23-6) outscored Philadelphia, 14-1, in the overtime period. But in order to reach the extra session, the Golden Falcons had to erase deficits of 45-26 at halftime, 49-26 with 18 minutes, eight seconds remaining, and 72-62 at the 3:29 mark. Junior swingman Devon Young (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick) scored Felician’s last 14 points of regulation, including a tying three-point field goal with nine seconds to play. Sophomore guard Antoine Obery (Roselle, NJ/Abraham Clark) then blocked a Ram lay-up attempt as time wound down, securing overtime. Philadelphia was the two-time defending league champion. |

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College department of athletics raised $475 in donations for the Kay Yow/Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Cancer Fund during the Feb. 20 basketball doubleheader against Goldey-Beacom College.
Felician joined the WBCA’s national initiative entitled “Pink Zone,” designed to raise awareness of breast cancer, the second-leading cause of death among women. The funds were raised in a myriad of ways. Department representatives sold pink ribbons and Pink Zone T-shirts, and held a bake sale, as well as sponsoring raffles during each game. |

 MESSERIAN FLEMINGTON, N.J. – Winning pitcher Phil Messerian (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) singled home the game’s only run in the bottom of the 14th inning to lead the Felician College baseball team to a 1-0 non-conference victory over visiting St. Thomas Aquinas College on Tuesday afternoon at Diamond Nation. It is believed to be the longest game by innings in the 11-year history of the Felician program.
Felician senior catcher Marcos Torres (Miami, FL/South Miami) singled to lead off the bottom of the 14th and pulled off a delayed steal of second base. One out later, a hit by Joe Petosa (Spotswood, NJ/Spotswood) put runners at the corners. Messerian followed with a line drive hit to left field to end the game three hours, 47 minutes after the first pitch. |
