Bio: Hamden, Conn., native Mark Mentone was named Felician College's first full-time sports information director in August 2006. He is the media contact for Felician's 10-sport Division II athletic program.

Since coming to Felician, Mentone has instituted a weekly athletics newsletter, an e-mail distribution list, sport-specific media guides for every sport, and game programs for every home event. He selected the vendor and uploaded initial content for the department's first official Web site (www.FelicianAthletics.com) -- launched in November 2006 -- and is responsible for its day-to-day maintenance.

Mentone has been an athletic communications professional for 11 years. From 2000 to 2005, he was the coordinator of sports information services at New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark. While working at NJIT, he served four seasons as the part-time information director for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. For his work in both positions, he won a regional Grant Burger Media Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association in 2004-05. He has also served two stints as an assistant SID at Southern Connecticut State University, where he was the principal media contact for the Owls' back-to-back Division II national championships in men’s soccer in 1998 and 1999.

Mentone is a 1996 graduate of Trinity (Conn.) College, earning a BS in mathematics. He is pursuing an MS in journalism from Quinnipiac University. As a teenager, Mentone was a 22-time champion on the Junior Bowlers Tour. A certified high school baseball umpire, he resides in Belleville.
